Milan is the economic capital of Italy, the capital of one of the richest northern regions of the country - Lombardy, the capital of fashion, theaters and the most “elegant” city in Italy. Milan is believed to have originally been founded by the Celts of Northern Italy around 600 BC and was conquered by the Romans, who gave it the name "Mediolanum", around 222 BC
Milan successfully combines medieval architecture with the boldest and most modern architectural structures. The symbol of the city is certainly the Duomo - the largest Gothic building in Italy, a masterpiece of world architecture and one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world, its facade is decorated with 2245 marble statues, and stained glass windows and the central nave of the Duomo are the largest in the world. Tourists can climb to the roof of the cathedral and admire the magnificent panorama of the city, as well as see the large castle of the Svorza dynasty, a castle with towers, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
